I began teaching private flute lessons in 2009, and I am currently teaching out of my private studio and in the Plano and McKinney Independent School Districts. My teaching experience ranges from starting off brand-new beginners on the flute, to giving advanced-level masterclasses, and everything in between. I’ve been on the faculty of Floot Fire Richardson, and have taught masterclasses on warmups and fundamentals at the Austin Flute Society Festival, and have judged competitions at All-Region, the UT Arlington Flute Festival, and Floot Fire.
I believe in the importance of building solid musical and technical fundamentals out of which creativity can bloom, personal expectations can be stretched, and potential can be maximized. My specific goals as an instrumental teacher are to see that the unique potential and gifts that lie within every student are unlocked, encouraged, and cultivated.
I believe that it is my great responsibility and joy as a music teacher to see that the love of music takes root in the hearts of my students. My foremost hope for my students is that they will develop a life-long love and appreciation of music and that they will be enabled to contribute in positive ways towards the musical literacy of our society. I encourage hard work, high expectations, and big goals, which I believe are essential elements for arriving at true creativity (and having the most fun and rewarding experience!)
